Gettin' ready...

So, yeah, we did just kind of disappear off the face of the planet for a while. We had a little problem with our water supply and pretty much just let everything dry up, including our pumpkin patch ='( Anyway, we are getting ready to start planting again and have taken many requests for specific items. If you have a specific request, please let us know on here ASAP. The good thing about the cooler months is that with a lot of items, it doesn't matter if you plant in September or January, but still let us know so we can get a long growing season for you. Also, if you are interested, we have started doing garden installations for people. Pretty much, we bring the farmers market to your back yard. You tell us what you would like to grow and we make it happen. We will do the hard work (soil prep, fertilizing, installing raised beds and drip lines, etc.) and all you need to do is keep the weeds out and harvest. We will do it 100% organic if you would like, just know that is a little more expensive. Our goal is to show people that they really can grow a lot of their own produce, and even though it isn't good for my long term business, hopefully they will be able to do it all on their own after only a couple of seasons. There are no "standard packages" because everyone's location is different and everyone has a different budget. If you want something cheap, but effective, we can do that. If you want something that dramatically increases the resale value of your home, we can do that too. This is 100% custom. Also, there is no crappy "consultation fee" for us to come out and see what you need. We'll get together and give you all the options, find out what you need, then give you an estimate a couple days later. If you're interested, let me know. Ah, it feels good to be back!

Yea!! I'm so glad you are back. I am going to spread the word about your home gardening business. Sorry, I'm just that pushy.

I couldn't find a direct e-mail for you. Can you contact me via the www.MicroEcoFarming.com website? I'm thinking about doing an article on those who bring gardens to other people's backyards. Thanks.

Hey Tom...

It's a lot of work keeping veggies going here in Arizona.

The customers for whom you build veggie gardens for will only become much more appreciative of your efforts.

Did your water issues get resolved? Or are you surviving on all this rain we been having? :)

Love, Mary L. <--up to her ears in okra over here on the other side of Fulton Ranch. I am so sick of them I am just gonna let the plants die off! No more harvesting!!! LOL!

Yeah, we got our water issue resolved. Our well went kaput and we tried running on city water for a month until we got a bill for $1100. Fortunately, we didn't have to pay for the well to get fixed, but it did so now we are back on. By the way, we will be growing dinosaur kale and two different kinds of chard, plus a number of other greens. I am really excited about this fall and look forward to getting out to market again each week. We have quite a few very short crops (-30 days) so hopefully we'll make it out the first or second week of October.

Hey Tom....

Cool...that means I don't have to devote as much space to kale or chard this year.

Don't have much space since I had the patio put in...and I haven't got converted over to container gardening, yet, either. :(

I am going to grow various leaf lettuces and Oriental greens this fall and winter.

And I have to figure out what is up with the scallions I am trying to grow in the container. I think I have to amp up this horrible potting soil I bought at HD.

I have a variety of tomato seeds over here...don't have space to grow them this year. You wanna take them?? Probably not enough of one variety for a farm, though...and they are getting old.

I have to ask my girlfriend to share some of her "Red Chief" tomato seeds. She saves them year to year from her plants. They grow REALLY well here in Chandler. :) I'll see if she can get some to me by next month.

Love Mary L.

Hey what a great idea! I'm glad you're back! By the way, I really like how you explained the difference between us and the huggers. Well said. The Organic Gardening Class is at 6am this Saturday. It's at Beverly Austin's home. If you post your email address on our blog I can email you the address. Just be sure to bring your questions, a notepad and paper, and $5. Class sizes vary- I've been the only one there and I've also been one of 7 people.

oh, I guess you can just email me and I'll respond with her address, that'd probably be easier.

Hey Bogle Farm-
I'm interested in talking to you all about doing a custom garden - how do I get ahold of you? We have a very, very small area in Fox Crossing for a small garden.

Thanks,
Christa

Christa, thanks for your interest in our services. We are actually right across the street from Fox Crossing, hidden in the cracks of Fulton Ranch. Your name sounds really familiar, but I can't put a face to it. Give me a call at (480) 229-1539 and we can come out and assess what you need.

Thanks,

Tom Bogle

Hey BFF...

If you are looking for seeds try Native Seed/Search. They are saving seeds that were grown by the Native SW Farmers.

These are seeds for plants that are adapted to our climate in the Southwest deserts and Arizona.

Read about them and browse the catalog here:

http://www.nativeseeds.org/v2/default.php

You will do much better with these plants than one that was adapted to someplace back East.

I thought that if you hadn't seen this already, You might like it. It is more handy than many since it is local climate created.

What do you think of growing some tomato plants (personally, since they are nightshades, I never try the green types) ...and other transplants like peppers or onion starts for me to buy and plant in my garden? I'd like to do an herb garden too.

I'll second the nativeseeds site mentioned earlier.

ooh, one more. Mayer (sp?) lemons are a lemon tree that produces 12 months out of the year, but I don't have room for one...
